Show Day Report

13th September 2020

Bucklow Trafford Riding Club held its third and final show of the season on the 13th September 2020, at Dairyhouse Farm, Altrincham, Cheshire.

Lorraine Clynes kindly judged Ring 1 after the morning classes she awarded the Championship to: “Whincham Valentina” ridden by Georgia Oleg and Reserve Champion went to “Charlie” ridden by Megan Thornley. We held a second Championship in this ring for the afternoon classes and this was awarded to April ridden by Rachel Culleton and Reserve Champion was “Chico” ridden by Mia Sutton.

The mini ring was judged by Alan French who had some tough decisions to make in the  Mini Championship with a lot of nice ponies coming forward, but found his Champion in the lead rein Woodview Serefina ridden by Harriet Lomas  and Reserve Champion went to “Maybrock Prince Charming” ridden by Zara Hayler, In the afternoon Alan French went on to judge the style & performance, & equitation classes that went forward to a Championship which was awarded to  “Erw Wasted British Lion” ridden by Sophie Rogers and “Tideline Rainbow King ridden by Holly Mitten took Reserve Champion commenting both were well mannered ponies.

The working hunter ring had a lovely inviting course with some new jumps and was designed by one of our members Fiona. Cathy Hyde judged these classes. In the Championship Cathy found her Champion in “Kaybrook Euros” ridden by Ben Summerfield commenting he is a real prospect for the future and Reserve Champion was Dapple Jack Sparrow who showed real ability over a fence ridden by Hannah McIntosh.

The in-hand ring was very popular with good entries in all classes, Allison Yates kindly judged these classes. The Championship in the morning saw some quality animals step forward but the Championship went to “Doylan Top Gun” shown by Sophie Rogers and Reserve Champion was Taincwm Victor shown by Victoria Weir. The afternoon classes went forward to their Championship and Lyncathbury Going for Gold shown by Jenny Wellens was honoured this award with Reserve Champion going to O’Tooles Cream Penelope shown by Katie Lawrence.

A massive thank you to all the judges, stewards and sponsors who all helped so tremendously to keep this show on the road. It has been a difficult year to say the least but Covid-19 you set to try us, but we were not defeated and managed to run 3 shows in these trying times, thanks to all our supportive members for sticking with us being so patient through cancelled shows and social distancing and abiding by Covid guidelines that we had to implement.
